This first installation saw the hosting of two virtual workshops over the course of four days for students of primary and secondary school levels. The workshops were facilitated by the Museum staff.

Art Swap 2019

The Museum hosted a one-of-a-kind event in support of emerging artists in 2019. The idea was to create a space for artists to interact with each other while also gaining insight into the industry from professionals and other established artists. Attendees were able to learn about copyright, grant writing and planning an exhibition among other important topics, while also sharing their work, perspectives and challenges.

Night In The Museum 2019

As part of the Museum’s Carifesta XIV Activities, the Museum hosted a “Night in the Museum” event where we opened the Museum beyond our regular opening hours and included special activities and the screening of the film  “Sally’s Way” as part of our offering.

About the film Sally’s Way:

“Sally’s Way” is Trinidad and Tobago’s first feature length film for children. It is an adapted and expanded version of the children’s book “A Sally Life” by  Joanne Gail Johnson. It premiered in Seattle at the Northwest Film Forum’s Children’s International Film Festival in January 2015 where it won the coveted Global Zoom Prize. The lead actress, Alyssa Highly won a Hope Prize for the most promising actress at the Pan African International Film Festival in Cannes. Film Synopsis: Sally, a 12-year-old girl, who lost her parents to HIV/AIDS, uses her ingenuity to help her ailing grandmother, the only family she has left. Set in the island of Trinidad, the film has a universal message of how to grow despite the odds. So whether you are living a “Sally Life” or not, this family film resonates in a powerful way.
